Plastic is everywhere! The thought of living without plastic may seem too much, but not for Beth Terry, author of Plastic-Free: How I Kicked the Plastic Habit and How You Can Too and Blog My Plastic-Free Life.
In Beth’s book she shares why she started living a plastic-free life. It is an informative book providing personal anecdotes, stats about the environmental and health problems related to plastic and personal solutions and tips on how to limit your plastic footprint. Plastic seems like an unavoidable substance, but Beth shows us how we can virtually eliminate plastics from our lives.
Beth brings awareness to the dangers of plastics and how to keep your life uncluttered by plastics. Last year, I started in my kitchen, and I recycled/donated nearly 90% of the plastic that was in my kitchen. Any plastic cups were replaced with glass. The plastic cooking utensils were replaced with bamboo and stainless steel. I donated my non-stick pans and replaced my plastic food containers with glass. This was all because of what I learned from Beth.
My kids enjoy drinking from straws. Now there are glass and stainless-steel options and, in a pinch, I have paper straws on hand for special occasions, like parties. When I shop for groceries I pay attention to the packaging, I purchase the cardboard box option verses the plastic container (like in cornstarch, sugar, etc.)
Beth’s focus and passion has influenced me and I know it will make a difference in your life too!
Her book was even created without any plastic materials, including plastic glue, coatings, or even synthetic thread.
