You’ve probably heard the buzz around town.  Raw Food Nutrition is definitely ON.   You can catch it in the news, the media, amongst a host of celebs and beyond.  Your ears are probably perked, and you may be asking yourself: Could I really thrive on a raw food plant-based diet? I mean, would it make me look and feel as great as they all say?  I know, I know, it seems like a stretch for you, you’ve been eating mega meat and dairy, along with your fair share of cooked and processed food for as long as you can remember. So how could you possibly make the switch, right?

Well, I’ll start off by saying that you’re extremely fortunate to have stumbled upon plant-based, whole food nutrition at this stage of the game.  So much of the research has already been done by many of the top nutrition scientists and medical doctors in the world over the last decade.  Their conclusions are clear.  So indisputably so, that former President Bill Clinton was convinced and has now publicly announced his personal health and wellness transformation after sticking to a plant-based, whole food diet. You may want to pick up the best-selling book: The China Study by Dr. T. Collin Campbell to better understand the science and medical research that have both proven and powered this incredible plant-based movement into the mainstream.

Please don’t feel overwhelmed or intimidated by this seemingly drastic change in your diet.  Transitioning gradually is really your best bet to ensure long-term success. You certainly don’t have to be perfect to start reaping the benefits, but the sooner you take the first step, the better you will both look and feel.  By transitioning away from animal based foods like meat & dairy and enjoying more & more of your favorite fresh plant-based whole foods, like fruit and veggies, your entire cardiovascular, immune & metabolic systems will receive the vital raw materials needed to not just survive, but truly THRIVE.

It’s really just a mindset adjustment.  Once you begin to realize that a top notch, whole food nutrition is your key to total rejuvenation, unlimited energy and life-long disease prevention, you’ll never look back.  Think of it more like your very own personal health insurance provider!  Aside from the mental de-fogging and energy you’ll feel, many (including myself) have experienced the following additional ‘perks’ over time:  Skin clears on the face and tightens on the bod, eyes brighten, digestion improves dramatically, and body order (even post-workout) literally goes away.  By simply focusing on adding more delicious, juicy-sweet fruit and fresh flavorful salads, veggies and smoothies to what you’re doing now, rather than stressing about what you’re not going to eat, you’ll be well on your way to total wellness, almost effortlessly.

When you choose to provide your body with the proper fuel & nutrients required to rejuvenate your insides and remove the drain of the heavy, processed, refined & cooked foods, the magic starts to happen.  Your body will finally be given the live food enzymes and plant-based nourishment necessary to tend to your many neglected internal repair jobs. All food, in its unheated, raw state contains the enzymes needed for its own digestion without drawing on the body’s reserves and weakening the immune system.  Consuming animal-based processed, refined and cooked foods is acidic, stressful and takes away from so much of the needed energy required to nourish your blood and rejuvenate all of your cells, tissues and organs. The human body requires nutrient dense, fresh ripe fruit and vegetables to effectively clean up the toxicity and internal mess produced from just living life.

Lastly, by transitioning more and more towards a plant-based, whole food raw diet, your renewed sense of self and passion for life will begin to manifest. Your blood stream will be given the chance to purify and unclog allowing every cell in your body to be nourished and renewed.  You deserve and can have more than just OK.  In my mind, the key to true happiness is loving oneself enough to go for the best that life has to offer. To get there, we really just need enough energy, passion and excitement. Plenty of fresh fruit, greens, water, exercise, restful sleep and a bit of sunshine are what the human body needs to be healthy, vibrant and focused enough to go after what we want out of life.

Simply put, when you nourish your cells with the unprocessed, raw food that it was physiologically designed to live on, each day becomes filled with promise and possibility.  Choose to take control of your health and well-being while preventing disease in the long-term….and remember to enjoy the journey!
